I have just launched a new practice for Wednesday Mornings, for those in need of a midweek reset. ‘Relax Restore and Reset’ this is an accessible practice for everyone.
Rest is a bit of an odd subject to discuss, however it is super important. Without rest our bodies stay doing in the sympathetic (fight or flight) part of our nervous system, meaning our parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system can’t do all the jobs it needs to do. It functions to restore homeostasis and is active when the body is at rest and recuperating.  If the nervous system is out of balance it is possible that we might experience physical symptoms such as difficulty sleeping, changes in appetite, digestive issues, and muscle tension or pain. Emotionally this might look like frequent irritability, heightened anxiety, or feelings of being overwhelmed or on edge. The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems both play vital roles in regulating bodily functions, supporting mental health and maintaining well-being.
Relax Restore and Reset is aimed at coaxing the nervous system to take some time in the parasympathetic state as modern western nervous systems do tend to spend the majority of time in their sympathetic state.

So in our practice we take time with a super gentle few moments of movement and then resting into our mats, with cushions and blankets or perhaps seated on a chair to follow a guided meditation. It’s possible you might drift off to sleep and that’s really ok!
